This is not good.. using electrical tape instead of the proper wire connectors can lead to meltdowns and fires. We are all about doing it yourself but we also encourage safety and knowing when you are out of your league. Dryers run on a double breaker and can run on one but need two to heat. So if you have no heat, check your household breakers first. One side can trip and allow the dryer to run but not heat up. Check all the venting inside and outside the house occasionally - if it takes too long to dry - often it is just a venting issue. Overall - be safe - and use aluminum venting.
